Gemini is multi-modal. That means it can do much more than just read and write text. It can see and understand images, videos, handwriting, audio, and more.
I’ve shared tips before for having Gemini transcribe and summarise your handwritten notes, but more and more I’m finding myself record conversations (or solo rambles) and have Gemini make sense of them.
For example, my wife and I run a business together, and have recorded conversations during long car journeys whilst discussing ideas and strategy, which Gemini then summarises into a readable format with actions.
Here’s how:
How to have Gemini summarise recorded conversations
Record your conversation, either by:
Using your phone (iPhone and Android have recording apps)
Using an online app (I found simplevoicerecorder.com which records locally and allows you to save the file)
In Gemini, click + and attach the audio file
Write a relevant prompt (you can keep it simple)
For example: “Summarise this rambling conversation into coherent topics. Include a list of action items.”
Click submit
That’s it! It’s much quicker to speak than type, and you can record this anywhere. It doesn’t matter if you get interrupted during the recording or lose your trail of thought because Gemini will restructure everything for you.
To share another example - I recently ran some research meetings in-person and recorded those conversations so I could concentrate more on the conversation rather than taking notes.
