Whether it's an event plan, a new policy or a project overview, some of the most important documents you share still go to people that never get round to reading them.
Google Vids has been able to turn Google Slides into videos for a while now. But it's just gained a docs to video option too, which takes a PDF, Word file or Google Doc, writes a script based on it, adds an AI voiceover and royalty free background music, and allows you to edit everything on the timeline.
How to turn a Google Doc into a video
Open Google Vids by typing vids.new into your browser
Click Docs to video on the opening screen
Select or upload a file and click Next
Check (and optionally edit) the script Vids generated
Click Create
That's it! By the way, every element is editable. So if you've ever made a non-editable video overview in NotebookLM (now Gemini Notebook), this is a decent upgrade. For example, you could:
Delete or swap out the AI-generated images (I personally don’t like them)
Edit the script for any scene
Change the voiceover or the background music
Scroll through the timeline and remove any scenes you don't need
