Most people fall into one of two categories when it comes to organising files:

  1. Add every file neatly into a deep folder structure which has taken years to create

  2. Throw everything in ‘My Drive’ and hope for the best

Whichever camp you’re in, it’s likely you still search for things in Google Drive from time to time. And when you do, you might find that you have a few files with similar names. You probably double-click to open each of them before finding the right one then close all the other tabs.

There’s no need because you can actually preview files directly from the list.

How to preview files in Google Drive

  1. Single click to highlight a file

  2. Press command+option+p (on a Mac) or ctrl+alt+p (on Windows)

  3. Check out the preview of your file

I’ll see you in the next one!
