I’ve been waiting a while for this, and it’s finally arrived!
We’ve all stared at a blank presentation, dreading the hours it takes to copy-paste information from a document, build tables, and manually format slides to match the company style.
Now you can have Gemini can do the heavy lifting for you. This was partly possible with Canvas in the Gemini app, but now an even better exists inside Google Slides itself.
You can give it a source document for the information, and a template for the visual design, and it will build out the entire presentation for you. Here’s how:
How to have Gemini build your presentation
Open a new presentation (type slides.new in your Chrome browser).
Click the new 'Presentation' option in the Gemini pop-up on the right.

Click the + button under 'Sources' and choose 'Add from Drive' to select your source document (e.g., a Quarterly Business Review doc).
Click the palette icon at the bottom and choose 'Add from Drive' to select a template deck so Gemini can match your visual style.

In the prompt box, simply type something like "Create a presentation based on this document" and hit submit.
Gemini will ask a few quick follow-up questions (audience, preferred density, length, and core themes). Make your selections and click Next.
Review the suggested slide outline and click Approve.

That’s it! It takes a little while to generate, but Gemini will build out all the slides, complete with tables, formatting, and your custom design. Everything is fully editable, so you can easily tweak the final result.
FYI this feature is still rolling out as we speak so, if you don’t see it just yet, check back in a few days.
