Have you built a little app with Canvas in Gemini yet? Things like a pricing calculator, a meeting cost counter, a time zone checker, or just something more specific to your team.

When I wrote about building utility apps like those, there were 12 steps to copy the code and embed it in a Google Site. I said at the time I hoped Google would make it easier.

That time has come! You can export any app Gemini has made with the Canvas tool straight to Google Sites in one click. It's a small update, but it means it’s much easier to share something you’ve made with your team.

How to export an app directly to Google Sites

  1. Go to gemini.google.com and start a new chat

  2. Click +, then More tools and choose Canvas

  3. Submit a prompt to create an app (for example: "Create a time zone checker for my team. Let me pick up to four cities and highlight the working hours where everyone overlaps")

  1. Click Export and choose Google Sites

  2. Click Publish and setup the site for sharing

That's it! Anyone you share it with can use it straight away without having to copy code or rebuild it.

From here, you could:

  • Share the web address just like you would any other Google Site

  • Add more apps to the same site to build a small toolkit for your team

  • Choose who can see it, for example just people in your organisation

Thanks for subscribing, and I'll see you in the next one!
